Rasim Lakota, Berina Turković
SUMMARY
Winter sports are among the most attractive sports worldwide. Activities conducted in mountain environments provide relaxation and enjoyment while also having positive effects on health, particularly on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
The aim of this study was to analyze the representation of scientific papers related to winter sports in sport science journals. The sample consisted of six scientific journals available online, covering the period from 2009 to 2019. The method of content analysis was used to examine published papers, with each journal and article analyzed in detail according to year of publication and thematic content.
The journals included publications from several cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Sarajevo, Mostar, Travnik, Tuzla, and Banja Luka, as well as one journal from Croatia (Zagreb). The analysis revealed that the overall number of scientific papers devoted to winter sports was relatively small. The largest number of winter sports-related papers was found in the journals Kinesiology Zagreb and Sport Logia Banja Luka.
The authors conclude that sport represents an important form of entertainment, recreation, and physical exercise, while competitive sport requires measurable performance outcomes and achievements. Despite the popularity and health benefits of winter sports, they remain insufficiently represented in the analyzed scientific journals.
