SUMMARY
The purpose of this study was to determine the level of dependence on mobile phones and the Internet among students of Physical Education and Sports at AAB College, as well as to examine the negative effects of excessive mobile phone use on the learning process and students’ engagement in physical activity outside the regular curriculum.
The study included 100 male and female students of different ages enrolled in the Physical Education and Sports program at AAB College. Data were collected using questionnaires. The results indicated that spending more than four hours per day using electronic devices is an indicator of a high level of dependence on mobile phones and the Internet, which may reduce students’ focus on learning and academic responsibilities.
Furthermore, 21% of respondents reported that they lose the motivation to study once they become engaged with their phones and Internet activities. The findings also showed that students remain strongly committed to sports participation outside the formal curriculum, with 35.39% of respondents reporting regular involvement in sports activities beyond their academic program.
The study highlights the growing influence of mobile phone and Internet use on students’ educational habits while confirming the continued importance of sport and physical activity in their daily lives
