SUMMARY
This research aimed to determine the level of physical activity among primary and secondary school students in the city of Mostar. The study was conducted on a sample of 1,381 students aged 11 to 18 years, including pupils from the fifth and ninth grades of primary school and the first and third grades of secondary school.
The obtained results showed that ninth-grade primary school students were the most physically active, while third-grade secondary school students were the least active in terms of participation in physical activities during their free time. Regarding participation in organized physical activities, the results indicated that the greatest interest was expressed by fifth-grade primary school students, whereas the lowest level of participation was recorded among third-grade secondary school students.
With respect to the weekly frequency of organized physical activity, it was concluded that participation was more frequent among older students. This finding is likely related to the fact that older students are generally involved in organized physical activities at a more serious and competitive level.
